U.S. Congress · H.R. 227
Lets some clergy rejoin Social Security and Medicare
Gives clergy members who opted out of Social Security and Medicare taxes a two-year window to opt back in, with the change starting in 2029 or 2030. The choice is permanent, and clergy who opt back in generally need 10 years of covered work to receive benefits. The Internal Revenue Service must tell eligible clergy about this option.
